Meet Amy
Amy is the founder and guiding force behind Yoga Now, Chicago’s premier eco-friendly yoga studio. A Princeton-educated molecular biologist and former cancer researcher, Amy’s journey from science and corporate life to the heart of yoga is both inspiring and deeply authentic. She discovered yoga as a teenager and later immersed herself in traditional study, making 14 pilgrimages to Mysore, India to train directly with the legendary Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
Authorized to teach Ashtanga Yoga by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 1999, Amy has since dedicated her life to sharing the practice, blending rigorous technique with deep spiritual insight. She holds the highest certifications through Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500), and her classes in Ashtanga, Bhakti Vinyasa Flow, and specialized teacher trainings are known for their depth, integrity, and heart.
At Yoga Now, Amy has created more than just a studio—it’s a sanctuary for growth, healing, and connection. From leading regular kirtans with her band, Amy and the Bliss Tribe, to mentoring future yoga teachers, she cultivates a space where tradition meets transformation. Recognized as a national leader through programs like Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and Inner City Capital Connections, and honored at the Enterprising Women of the Year Awards, Amy brings visionary leadership and a lifetime of learning to every class she teaches. Whether you’re a beginner or a lifelong practitioner, you’ll find a welcoming community and a powerful teacher in Amy.
